Just loved this book..lots of fun while reading to my grandchildren..Makes it especially fun because many have experienced this and understand all too well the thrill of such an unwanted houseguest!! Enjoyed the precious illustrations which were perfect for the story! A wonderful book..
What a darling little book. Will surly keep the attention of the grand to whom you may be reading. Can't wait to share it with my SEVEN Grands! Illustrations were perfect and so enhanced the story. The event rings true and children of all ages will enjoy the gentle story!
I loved the illustrations and language that captures this very child friendly adult adventure. The book's packaging is especially nice for wee little children's hands. When read, parents smile because the book harkens a very relatable experience; children smile because the story line (especially the mouse) presents in such a visually endearing fashion. The mouse's trek across the bottom of the pages recording his journey to obtain the cheese is very cute.
Wide-eyed and mesmerized were the 28 children of my grandson's kindergarten class as I read this book to them as the "Mystery Reader". Stories of critters and creatures at their homes followed -- a snake in the house, ants from out of no-where, and the many attempts to rid bees in the yard until they suddenly disappeared, just like a Mooma and the Mouse! A perfect book to capture the interest and imaginations of five-year olds. Thank you, Tansill Johnson.
This is a delightful story about a mouse in a house and the adventures that most of us face with these little creatures. The story encourages younger children to discuss what they know about mice and share their stories about mice in their houses. And they might even suggest some solutions to the problem.
In the end of the story, all ends well. It shows us all that not all problems are always solvable..and maybe that is good. But all ends well for the mouse and the family. The story and the cute illustrations make it all come together. My grandchildren liked reading the book and asked where the mouse went..so that might be another story to talk about.

This book is adorable. It's a slightly wild adventure about trying to trap a mouse as told from the perspective of a loving child who watches her grandparents deal with a challenge. The key figure is the grandmother, "Mooma," who doesn't AT ALL like the idea of a mouse in her house and who takes increasingly strong action as the story unfolds. Who will prevail, the hungry mouse in search of a home for the winter or the clever Mooma who insists that her house remain a "Mouse Free Zone?" The illustrations are very simple yet clever, similar in presentation to the illustrations in Beatrix Potter books, with a trail of mouse prints on the bottom of each page that reflects the reader's progress through the story. I have read the story many times to my own grandchildren (they insist) and they are quickly absorbed into the unfolding action. Perhaps just as important, NO MOUSE IS HARMED IN THE TELLING OF THIS STORY!
STARGAZER
I loved this book! This story was fun to read and has actually happened to many of us in real life. We could "feel" and identify with the emotions of Mooma, PaPa and the mouse. The pictures are clever . . . the illustrator did a great job of capturing the emotions and events throughout the book. The expressions were great and I loved the little mouse on all the pages . . . even on the headboard of the bed. The ending was cute. I will recommend this book to my friends with grandchildren.
